History Campbell, Inc. was started by Robert R. Campbell in 1973. Bob started in the heavy machinery repair business working for his father's (Wilson E. Campbell) company, Industrial Welding, Inc. Wilson learned the welding trade working in Detroit in the late 1920s and 30s. After becoming a highly skilled welder, he saw an increasing need for the repair of stamping and forging equipment. After traveling to Lansing on a regular basis to service the growing market there, Wilson decided to start his own machinery repair company. Wilson moved his family to Lansing, MI and started Fusing Engineering to serve the automotive and forging industries in Lansing. The company quickly grew and changed its name to Industrial Welding. They had added machining capacity and continued growing in size and capability. During the 1950s, while in college, Bob learned the skill of welding and the techniques his father developed for the proper repair of steel and cast iron heavy machinery parts. Bob then progressed into sales and helped Industrial Welding expand across the U.S., and become the largest company in the repair industry. After his father's retirement, Bob used his 20 years of experience in the industry to start his own company. Bob's goals were to provide quality work in a productive, safe and efficient manner. Bob's experience in the industry has helped him build one of the most highly recognized repair companies in the business. Bob is well known as an expert in the industry. He has been educating customers for years through in-plant seminars and speaking engagements for various trade associations in the metal stamping and forging industries. Bob has also written numerous articles in trade journals on the repair and rebuilding of presses. In 1994, Bob's son Pete took over the reins as president of Campbell, Inc. Pete worked in the business through high school and college, and has been with the company since graduating from Michigan State in 1983. He has been carrying on the family name in the industry and keeping the company current with today's standards. Campbell, Inc. is continually upgrading their facilities and equipment to keep up with the latest technologies and developments. They are constantly striving to increase the quality of their work and achieve the tighter tolerances and clearances demanded by today's equipment. With some of the most experienced skilled tradesmen in the industry and an eye on the future, Campbell Inc. can help your company repair, rebuild or upgrade your metal forming equipment.
